Alienware 9750 Alienware, the leading manufacturer of high-performance desktops, notebooks and professional systems and has a notable reputation for its gaming machines is now ensuring that notebook customers enjoy faster performance and enhanced reliability.

Now, Alienware will be offering solid state drives (SSD) that utilize flash memory on their hugely popular Area-51 m9750, Aurora m9700 and Area-51 m5550 notebooks.

Besides adding SSDs to its notebooks, Alienware is also including a 64-Gigabyte RAID 0 option.

The Alienware Area-51 m9750 and Aurora m9700 are the first to market with a 64GB RAID 0 dual SSD configuration. They also offer dual drive options that combine a 32GB SSD and a 200GB 7200 RPM storage drive.

According to Bryan de Zayas, Associate Director of Product Marketing at Alienware, “Alienware’s new flash-based solid state drive solutions dramatically accelerate performance for mobile storage applications.”

Solid State drives do not utilize any moving parts and they don’t even need to spin up to search for data. Thus, they run silently, consume less power and find data more quicly than traditional spinning hard drives.

“From blazing load times to rock-solid durability, all the essential features that customers look for in a notebook are maximized in Alienware mobile systems loaded with solid state drives,” added de Zayas.

You can expect the new SSD configurations to be a bit steep. These notebooks carry prices starting at around $500 for a single 32GB SSD and ranging up to a whopping $920 for the RAID set-up.
