Sony has stated that it has reduced the price of the renowned PSP handheld gaming console in the United Kingdom. The PSP will now be priced at £129.99, in UK and €169.99 throughout the rest of Europe from Friday 4 May.

And the good news doesn’t end there. In addition to the new price of PSP, five new Platinum titles will be launched along with a new, lower price for all PSP Platinum titles of £14.99. The new Platinum titles are: Ridge Racer 2, Tekken, Killzone, Loco Roco, and Moto GP.

“PSP is unique and is constantly evolving. It offers the widest palette of mobile entertainment, from gaming to video, music, photos and Internet,” said SCE UK managing director Ray Maguire.

Maguire continued, “But now the exciting possibility of connecting remotely to PlayStation 3 makes PSP more relevant than ever. So what better time to offer a brand new price point, and the launch of five new Platinum titles?”

However, in spite of this drastic drop in price, the PSP still is £30 more expensive than the Nintendo DS, which has been consistently performing stronger than Sony’s Handheld.
