Yesterday, Nintendo’s Japanese web site confirmed that support for MSX and NeoGeo game titles for the Nintendo Wii will soon be available through the Wii Shop Channel in the next few months.
The arcade-quality NeoGeo game console from SNK has been around for more than ten years now. This game console features a game catalogue that contains a number of fighting games that are still popular all around the world.
On the other hand, the MSX is a gaming PC that was never actually released in the American or European markets! It is thus certainly huge that the NeoGeo game console and MSX PC game titles will soon be reaching virtual console heights.
The first MSX games that are scheduled to be released for the Nintendo Wii game console include ‘Eggy’ and ‘Aleste’, which will both cost 800 points each. No other official game titles were confirmed besides these. However, over time we can surely expect some great offerings.
As of now, no NeoGeo game titles have been confirmed for the Nintendo Wii. A number of new companies have also been added to the list of virtual console publishers such as Pony Canyon of ‘Dr. Chaos’ and ‘Phantom Spiker’ fame, Spike (FirePro Wrestling, Dragon Ball Z:Busokai Tenkaichi0), SNK Playmore of ‘Metal Slug’ fame, and mobile game developer G-Mode.
This means that fans of 2D will surely be in heaven hearing this bit of news. Nintendo is not willing to give further details at this point of time.
