Intel has launched its much-awaited mobile Core 2 Extreme gaming processor, which is a dual-core chip clocked at 2.6GHz and is packed with 4MB of shared L2 cache.

The Intel Core 2 Extreme X7800 mobile dual-core processor has both cores running at a speedy 2.6GHz.

This chipset also features mobile-specific power-saving features that will assist Intel’s customers deliver more energy-efficient and higher-performing designs.

Besides, the Intel Core 2 Extreme X7800 mobile processor offers up to 28% more performance than any of Intel’s previous generation mobile processors.

Not only that, for people who require more capability, the Intel Core 2 Extreme mobile processor bus ratio locks (overspeed protection) has been removed. This offers added technical flexibility when customizing the system allowing OEMs to deliver even more performance.

“Laptops are the fastest-growing computing market segment, and there is increasing demand from those who crave the ultimate in video, gaming and design computing performance yet want the freedom and flexibility that a laptop brings,” said Samir Al-Schamma, Intel’s General Manager for the GCC.

The Intel Core 2 Extreme X7800 mobile processor costs laptop makers around $851 when purchased in bulk (batches of 1000).
