Age of Conan

This bit of news will surely come as a blow to all you MMO gamers out there. Funcom has announced that the release date for its “Age of Conan” Hyborian Adventures” game for the PC has been postponed until March 25, 2008.

It appears that the main reason behind Funcom setting a new release date for the game is so that the company can continue to focus on honing, polishing and improving the qualities and features of the game, ensuring that MMO fans get a fantastic experience when it launches.

In fact, in April this year, we had reported about the “Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures” PC Beta sign-ups. Sign-ups are currently open till now.

According to Trond Arne Aas, CEO of Funcom, “We naturally regret that we have to push back ‘Age of Conan’. However, after careful consideration, and analysis of recent Beta feedback, we believe that the new release date is in the best interest of the gamers, our company and our owners.”

“We are fully committed to delivering games with absolute qualities, and in the current MMO marketplace we know that only the best is good enough to truly succeed. With the new release date we have therefore given ourselves more time to meet and deliver on the massive expectations for the game. We are certain that our choice will ultimately pay off, and that all ‘Age of Conan’ players will get a special online experience,” he added.

The Age of Conan franchise has consistently been mentioned as one of the most-anticipated PC games in development. Besides, it has received several magazine covers and awards, including ‘Best MMO of E3’, awards from IGN, GameSpot, GameSpy and Yahoo.

What’s more; the ‘Age of Conan’ happens to one of the key titles in the Microsoft Games for Windows line-up. It was also showcased as a perfect DirectX 10 title for nVidia.

Gaute Godager, founder of Funcom and Producer / Director on ‘Age of Conan’ said, “With the added development time we can now deliver something even more unique and powerful, something which is worthy of the incredible Conan legacy.”

Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures is still in the general beta phase, and applications for testing are yet being received by Funcom. From the looks of it, Funcom is keen on polishing the game to the core, so that MMO fans will not get disappointed,

Stay tuned for the game will release on March 25, 2008.
