PSP to go Slim

For several weeks now, rumors of a ‘slim’ Sony PlayStation Portable more commonly referred to as PSP, have been doing the rounds on the Internet.

Now, Kotaku, a reliable gaming Web site has reported what they believe to be the final specifications for what they are calling the “PSP Slim”. Although, you must know, that the actual name of this new PSP design hasn’t been released as yet.

So, let’s call it the PSP Slim now, to make things easier. Well, the PSP Slim isn’t a total redesign, but will be using the same hardware that is used in existing PSPs. However, it is known that the new PSP will sport a much slimmer design.

Also, the battery life is expected to be quadrupled mainly due to a much more power efficient LCD screen. It seems that Sony has also found a way to make the UMD (Universal Media Disk) games load a tad bit faster.

The new PSP Slim is also expected to have some built-in internal memory instead of having to rely on an external Memory Stick. In fact, the redesigned PSP Slim will house a good 8GB of internal memory.

Additionally, the company also plans on making some changes with regards to the PSP buttons, and it’s D-Pad will be undergoing some serious changes too.

According to the report, the PSP Slim is expected to be priced at around $170, which is exactly the same price as the current PSP model. You can expect the PSP Slim to hit stores by the end of Q3 2007, just in time for the holiday season!
