GameBox National Championship 2007 kicked off by Reliance World
India is surely one country that is catching up the gaming fever immensely in the past few months. From the Xbox 360 launch, to local LAN parties, it’s all there in the Asian subcontinent. And here’s yet another Indian gaming news.
Reliance World has announced GameBox National Championship 2007, the biggest online gaming championship in India, slated to be held in 240 Reliance World outlets across 104 cities in India. The championship will be held from January 13 to January 28, 2007.
What’s really exciting is that Fnatic, the world’s no. 1 Counter Strike gaming team, will be playing exhibition matches with the National winners of the Reliance GameBox National Championship 2007.
Sarup Chowdhary, CEO, Reliance World said, “The Reliance GameBox National Championship 2007 gives an opportunity to gamers across India to test their skills at this action-packed, thrilling online gaming event. Multiplayer online gaming is one of the key broadband applications at Reliance World outlets. It has been our constant endeavor to provide the youth in India the right ‘Opportunities to Play’. Gaming is all set to become the sixth genre of entertainment in our country and Reliance World is uniquely positioned to boost that.”
“Being pioneers in promoting online gaming in the country, Reliance World is now taking the Gamebox 2007 Championship to the next level. We have invited Fnatic, the World’s Top Counter Strike team to be at the finals. This being Fnatic’s first visit to the country, will help the Indian winners to learn and improve their game to compete at the World Level,” commented Sunil Buch, Head, Marketing and Product Management, Reliance World.
The Reliance GameBox 2007 will be conducted at four levels. The first level would begin at Reliance World outlets from January 13 - January 17, 2007. Winners from this level will qualify for the next round, in which they have to fight it out at the circle level between January 18 - January 20, 2007 and Zonal levels scheduled to take place from January 21 - January 22, 2007. The Zonal winners will lock horns at the National Finals on January 28 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The National Winners would win cash prizes worth Rs. 10 lakhs.
The Gamebox National Championship 2007 would be supported by Zapak as the Casual gaming partner, Big FM as the Radio partner, MTV as the TV partner and Skoar as the Print partner. The Championship is co-sponsored by Nvidia.
What’s best is that registration is free and can be done at the nearest Reliance World.
