Finally, the fairer sex has been taken seriously in the male-dominated and adrenaline packed world of gaming. MaxGames conducted a hunt for the top female gamer at the Hotlink Games and Anime Festival in Sungai Wang Plaza, and 20-year old Deborah Tan stood out from the 14 other contestants. She was crowned Miss MaxGames and more importantly (if you’re a gamer, this would matter more) she walked away with a Sony PS3!

According to Maxis Head of Games and Entertainment, Kee Saik Meng, “The Miss MaxGames event was to promote 3G gaming and to encourage young female gamers to be more active in the mobile gaming community. This event was also held to help us find a female gaming icon for the MaxGames Community.”

Deborah Tan was accompanied by the MaxGirls team that comprised three other girls. These four lucky girls now form the MaxGirls All-Star Team, and they have been awarded a MaxGames ambassador contract worth 15,000 Malaysia Ringitt (approx. Rs. 1,86,494).

The Miss MaxGames search process involved 15 female contestants who were short listed from all over the country. They battled it live out on stage via mobile phones, and the two games at the tournament were “Antopia” and “The Dual Online”.

Even though this was a mobile gaming tournament, we couldn’t resist reporting it, as any gaming, so long as its worth playing, is our cup of tea!
