Super Mario Galaxy for Nintendo Wii confirmed for 2007 launch, says Miyamoto

Shigeru Miyamoto, the ace creator from Nintendo, has confirmed at his keynote speech at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) that the much-awaited Super Mario Galaxy for Nintendo Wii will release in 2007.

Following the announcement, Miyamoto displayed an exciting trailer for the game. Attendees saw Mario zoom round spherical worlds, bounce between planets, explore a lava level and confront a plant monster.

In the game, Mario is seen discovering bizarre planets across the galaxy to save Princess Peach.

About Super Mario Galaxy:

  • Gamers run, jump and battle enemies as they travel around all the planets in the galaxy. Since this game makes full use of all the features of the Wii Remote, players have to do all kinds of things to succeed: pressing buttons, swinging the Wii Remote and the Nunchuk, and even pointing at and dragging things with the pointer.
  • In addition, Miyamoto announced a new Mii Channel on Wii that will players assess other people’s avatars and enter different contests. Mario is a title that is well-known amidst all kinds of gamers and it seems that Wii owners will be waiting desperately for this.

    So get ready for Super Mario Galaxy for Nintendo Wii, as Mario goes in space, and can perform mind-bending jumps nothing like the way he’s done before. He’ll also have several new moves that are all based around tilting, pointing and shaking the Wii Remote.
