‘Double Dragon’ comes to Xbox Live Arcade (XBLA)

Double Dragon and XBLA logos Microsoft has announced that Double Dragon – the renowned fighting game will hit the Xbox Live Arcade (XBLA) today. Double Dragon has been developed by Empire Interactive Limited and will go live at 2 a.m. PDT. The game comes with a price tag of 400 Microsoft points and will be available worldwide.

Last week, when the launch news was doing the rounds, Clive Kabatznik, CEO of Empire owners Silverstar Holdings had stated, “Double Dragon will launch next Wednesday, and will be our first foray onto Xbox Live Arcade.” And well here it is now.

A little about Double Dragon:

Originally released in 1987, the game surrounds around twins called Billy and Jimmy Lee. They have had their childhood on the dreadful streets and have attained expert skill of the ancient martial art of Sou-Setsu-Ken. Billy and Jimmy make us of their feet, fists, elbows and whatever weapons come to hand while fighting. And they do the same while battling against the bunch of criminals that abducted Billy’s girlfriend.

Here are the game features of Double Dragon for XBLA:

  • Two-player co-op multiplayer locally or over Xbox Live
  • Special extras such as a look at the original Japanese and U.S. ‘Double Dragon’ sales fliers
  • Gameplay either with the original graphics or with new high-definition graphics
  • All new music
  • Hints and tips for newcomers
  • Three leaderboards
  • Customizable button configurations
  • Ability to earn up to 12 Achievements and 200 Gamerscore points
  • Double Dragon supports solo or two person play, either locally or via Xbox Live. Gamers can earn up to 12 achievements and 200 gamerscore points.
