Version 2.0 PS3 Software Update

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has announced the immediate availability of the latest version of the PS3 software. The newly release version 2.00 update allows for a uniquely mobile partnership between the PS3 and the PSP handheld gaming device.

The new update offers PlayStation 2 owners the ability to turn their console off remotely, using a PSP handheld gaming device via the Remote Play1 function.

PS3’s version 2.00 software update actually builds on the success and potential of the Remote Play functionality. This is because one will be able to turn their PS3 on or off using just a Wi-Fi connection. So you will be able to listen to the music, view photos and watch videos saved on a PS3’s Hard Disk Drive from just about anywhere in the world!

Further, Sony’s latest software update for the PS3 allows users to create personalized playlists in both the music and photo sections. This user-friendly function offers users the chance to create unlimited playlists and also share their favorite photos in high definition.

Version 2.00 also allows PS3 owners to customize their XMB (XcrossMediaBar) menu screen. So with the advent of this new update, you will be able to change the color and brightness of the XMB menu screen according to your liking.

Other enhancements that come along with the latest PS3 software update include the addition of an Information Board on XMB that keeps people up to date on the latest PlayStation news; the inclusion of a new PlayStation Network category and logo for easier navigation and Trend Micro Web Security, a free state-0f-the-art Internet security system.
