Guess who’s going to star in Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock? It’s none other than everybody’s favorite guitarist of the 90s Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave fame.

You can expect Tom Morello to be one of the “bosses” and will play a villain-like character in the upcoming third installment of Guitar Hero.

Morello is however less than impressed with his own guitar playing skills when he plays Guitar Hero.

Here is what Morello told Rolling Stone: “Whenever I play Guitar Hero, my opponent always kicks my ass on my own riffs…Now that I’m actually in the game, I hope the digital me will win once in a while!” And a representative from RedOctane has confirmed this saying that they will soon be announcing tracks that involve Morello.”

Well, Morello must certainly be getting thrashed in a guitar-playing video game, but in real life he makes up for that when he plays with his hit rock bands Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave.

And as if that were not enough; Morello has been named the 26th greatest guitarist of all time by Rolling Stone!

Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock is scheduled to be released sometime later this year. Only a while ago, we had reported about the game’s track list and also the partnership between Activision and Guitar maker Gibson.

The game will be released on multiple platforms including the Sony PS2, PS3, Microsoft Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii consoles. As of now, RedOctane has revealed the price for its Guitar Hero III Elite Bundle that will cost $109.99 (Rs.4400) on the PS3 and Xbox 360, while the Nintendo Wii version costs $99.99 (Rs.4000).
