Sony Computer Entertainment America has just announced a drop in price for its PlayStation Portable game system, to mark the portable system’s second anniversary. From yesterday onwards, the Sony PSP Core Pack will be available in North America for just $169.99 (Approx.7650). Sony has also announced two new additions to the PSP “Greatest Hits” collection- Daxter and Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror.
The drop in the PSP Core Pack is by $30 (Aprprox. Rs.1335). The PSP Core Pack consists of a system with an AC adaptor and a battery. Previously, the Core Pack used to retail for a price of $199.99 (approx. Rs.8900).
According to Jack Tretton, president and CEO, Sony Computer Entertainment America, “We have always been passionate about making great entertainment accessible to everyone, and the new price for PSP, as well as the continued growth of the ‘Greatest Hits’ library, reflect our ongoing commitment to supporting and expanding the PSP community.”
“We are pleased that we are able to engineer savings for the consumer at this stage of PSP’s lifecycle, allowing more individuals to experience PSP for the first time. In particular, we have recently seen a steady rise in the number of teens adopting PSP as their primary handheld entertainment system, and we expect the new price will accelerate that trend,” he added.
The two new game titles in the PSP “Greatest Hits” collection, Daxter and Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror will both retail for a price of $19.99.
Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror is a single-player thriller game which features melee attacks, target lock, precision aiming, target and vision enhancements, enhanced AI and high-tech weaponry.
This is indeed some great news for those who were waiting to get their hands on the PSP. Now, is certainly the time to go for it. What with new game titles, new firmware updates and of course the reduced price!
