E-Sports Council of India (ESC-I) Gaming Body launched by Indiagames in the Country
Yesterday, Indiagames, a mobile and online games company in India had announced the creation of a governing body called the “E-Sports Council of India” (ESC-I) for the purpose of centralizing administration for the competitive sports industry.
The main objective of the E-Sports Council of India will be to plan, regulate and organize e-sports events ranging from grass-root ones through those held at a professional level across India.
ESC-I aims to serve as a common platform for competitive gamers, event managers and potential sponsors. The body will also introduce scholarship programs, training for both gamers and game officials, seminars, counseling. The ESC-I will also organize International tournaments on the same lines as the World Cyber Games, GoD League and the Indo-Pak Cup.
The ESC-I body has its main headquarters in Mumbai, India and also has local counterparts in Hyderabad (ESC-H), Kolkatta (ESC-K), Chennai (ESC-C), Bangalore (ESC-B_ and Delhi (ESC-D).
Mr.Vishal Gondal, CEO, Indiagames and Chairman of ESC-I made this announcement at the ongoing NASSCOM Animation & Gaming summit. He said, “Gaming is catching up amongst the Indian youth in a big way. There are over one lakh active gamers across the country. However the competitive opportunities for gamers are often limited due to the level of fragmentation and the unorganized nature of the industry.”

It must be made known that a majority of the ESC-I governing council will comprise gamers as well as experienced gaming tournament organizers.
The E-Sports Council of India will also maintain statistical data and ratings on a national level in India.
It is interesting to know that ESC-I also plans to organize special games for gamers with disabilities, which is an excellent initiative in our opinion.
