Nintendo Revolution officially renamed as “Wii”

Nintendo Nintendo has officially announced the name of its upcoming next-generation game console, which was initially known by the code-name Revolution: Wii. In the announcement made on Thursday, Nintendo zeroed on ‘Wii’ (pronounced as ‘we’) because it highlighted that the console is for everybody.

The Nintendo Wii In a statement, Nintendo said, “While the code-name “Revolution” expressed our direction, Wii represents the answer.”

Nintendo has also said that the choice is to do with allowing people around the globe to understand, “no matter what language they speak”.

In an attempt to justify it further, Nintendo has also said “Wii has a distinctive ‘ii’ spelling that symbolizes both the unique controllers and the image of people gathering to play”.
