Nintendo announces that Wii Will Sell for around $250
Though a little unclear about the specifications, on Thursday Nintendo went ahead and revealed that the new Wii video game would sell for around US$225 (around Rs. 10,000) and reaffirmed that it will be released by Q4 of 2006. Nintendo plans on shipping six million units globally by March 2007 and nearly 17 million Wii titles a year after the console launches.
Add in an extra controller and the cost will probably jump up to $250, which is still quite reasonable.
The launch of the Wii, as well as the continued success of the Nintendo DS system is expected to contribute to an 18 percent growth rate for the company in the current fiscal year.
