Battlefield 2142 Confirmed By PC Gamer
There is a video trailer of Battlefield 2142 game on digg, from the May 2006 issue of PC Gamer which confirms the existence of Battlefield 2142 and its pending release this fall.

Feel free to watch those warring mechs, but we’ll hold off judgment until we hear the official word from EA/DICE. Do you believe a future ice age will precipitate a global war over arable land? You’ve been warned.
According to PC Gamer, work on Battlefield 2142 started right after Battlefield 2 was completed almost two years ago. DICE has already reach the pre-alpha stage with 2142 by the reuse of and revisions to the Battlefield 2 game engine.
The gameplay will see many changes instead of guns using bullets you will have lasers like in Staw Wars. The vechiles look like two-man Mechs and robots from Robocop. Infantry get upgrades as well due to the “new RPG elements in the class system” and much more.
