Electronics Arts logo Electronics Arts has given online players of Fight Night Round 3 two options. The players have to either surrender personal details or pay the sum of $2 to keep silent.

The scheme was revealed on the Kotaku site where a player was tinkering with the Playstation Portable version of tonight when he decided to check out the online play.

A message popped up saying that either the player had to pay $2 or fill in a form which gave all his details to ESPN or would not be allowed to play.

The player was annoyed because, according to him, the only reason that EA would want to collect that level of data was to get his email to send him spam.

He points out that those who do not have credit cards would be stuck with giving ESPN your data and email or not play. Not forgetting that, handing over your credit card would automatically give EA a fair bit of personal details anyway.

As other peeved players point out, something like this should be mentioned on the cover of the box so you have the option not to buy the game.
