Sony PlayStation 3 Sony has announced the full pricing details of its next generation console at a special pre-E3 conference in Los Angeles.

Sony said it would launch PS3 in Japan on Nov. 11at $499 for a 20 GB version and $599 for a 60 GB model, followed by simultaneous North American and European launches on Nov. 17.

Microsoft, by launching its Xbox 360 in November, will have spotted itself considerable momentum and a possible head start of 10 million units before Sony’s PS3 comes to market. Sony said it will ship 2 million units worldwide by launch, with that number climbing to 4 million units by year’s end.

One thing the machine will be lacking is the ability to vibrate. Apparently this is because the vibration buggers up the motion sensor. The PS3 controller will operate wirelessly via Bluetooth, but if you have it connected with its USB, the handset will recharge itself.
