Nintendo Wii to Launch in the Fourth Quarter of 2006
On Tuesday, Nintendo announced that it will make available the next-generation console, dubbed the Nintendo Wii, In Q4 of 2006. This indicates that the console will be launched roughly the same time as Sony’s PlayStation 3, expected to release on November 17 in North America.
Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Nintendo Reggie Fils-Aime made the announcement at the company’s press conference at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles. Fils-Aime refused to reveal pricing, saying instead that those details would be provided later this year. To support the launch of the Wii, Nintendo will be making available the next installment of the “Legend of Zelda” series, he said.
