'What would You Do? AidS Game Logo UNICEF has launched its first interactive online game that empowers young people to make good choices in life when it comes to the deadly HIV virus. The game, called ‘Ungefanyage’, which means ‘What would you do?’ when translated from Swahili, is sure to influence the youth of today.

The game ‘Ungefanyage’, takes players through a series of scenarios that could take place in relationships and these scenes stress on the importance of HIV prevention and testing.

An alarming 80 per cent of all young people still do not know how to protect themselves from the HIV/AIDS virus. Prevention is essential to lower the spread of the HIV/AIDS virus. The youth should be educated when it comes to such matters and reaching people with prevention education and service is a very important step towards an AIDS-free generation.

“Translating the game into Swahili makes it accessible to East African adolescents and young people,” says Voices of Youth Coordinator Amber Oliver. “By speaking openly about the threat that HIV and AIDS poses to young people, we can help give them the knowledge they need to keep them safe from infection.”

UNICEF has taken a good step as they have taken advantage of the influence games have on the youth of today. The game is available in Swahili and English version from here.
