iPods and Mobile Phones: The Culprit behind Allergies
Next time you suddenly start sniffing or getting an itch, don’t be surprised that your mobile phone or iPod could be the reason behind your allergy. A diagnosis from Todd Resengart, chief of cardiothoracic surgery at Stony Brook University concludes that certain metals and minerals used in manufacturing the gadgets causes allergies to the users similar to that of pollen related allergies.
Do not assume that it’s only the pollen during the spring time that can affect you adversely as it is found out by Todd Resengart that even your very own gadget could trigger the allergy symptoms. Dr. Todd says that cell phones and iPods in particular can affect users who are sensitive to certain metals and minerals used in manufacturing. Nickel, which is prevalent in phone batteries, is one of the leading causes of skin allergies and can lead to contact dermatitis he says.
It also noted that sensitive people tend to get unsightly skin bumps or rashes with the high use of mobile phones and iPods. Apart from the radiation emitted from mobile phones which have been noted to cause brain tumors, now here’s one more reason to use the gadgets cautiously and carefully.
