ASUS AIR3 speakers for iPod offer Internet Radio

ASUS has launched an iPod speaker dock – the ASUS Air3. What happens to be different about the Air3 is that it comes integrated with Internet Radio and High Definition Sound Standard (HDSS) certified speakers and Embedded Transmission Line (ETL) module for superior sound quality.

Also, the speakers integrate in them TI (Texas Instruments) class-D audio power amplifier TPA3120D2 offering “cinematic audio reproduction”.

The HDSS speakers in AIR3 are compatible with all iPods except iPod Shuffle. AIR 3 is also capable of charging the iPod while it plays. When connected to TVs and LCD monitors by S-Video and composite video, the AIR3 can also display the video and image files stored on the iPod.

The highlight of the speakers is the Internet Radio that offers music and news from all over the globe. It can be connected to the wireless or wired network (Wireless LAN 802.11b/g; Wired 10/100M Ethernet) to enjoy 10,000 radio stations.

AIR3 can also be used to enjoy UPnP enabled applications like the Windows Media Player 11, audio files that be streamed by connecting the Air3 and PC on the same network.

It also carries an Aux-In jack and a bundled cable for multimedia players and high-definition music.

The technical specifications of AIR 3 include data rates of 54 MBits (WLAN), 10/100 Mbits (Ethernet); 64/128-bit WEP and WPA/WPA2 wireless LAN security, audio format decoder supporting MP3 / WMA, 16kbps-320kbps; a 128 x 64 FSTN graphics blue-color display with white LED.

The device has been designed with blue LED lighting and scratch resistant UV coating seamless curved speaker grille.

The price and the availability of AIR3 are yet to be announced.
