Motion Computing F5 Tablet PC

Motion Computing has announced the semi-rugged F5 tablet PC which offers a combination of mobility, durability and functionality all in a single package.

Scott Eckert, CEO of Motion said, “Motion is dedicated to providing solutions that combine innovative mobile products and customized applications from experienced software partners and services that are unique to each vertical market that we serve. Our customers came to us with a need and we solved it with the F5. We’ve combined the mobility and ease-of-use benefits of a tablet PC with the increased durability of a rugged PC, without all of the costs associated with a fully rugged system.”

It will thus be perfect for the mobile workforce including field service manufacturing, government and construction as this tablet PC is purely a balance between a commercial grade device and fully-rugged PCs.

The new F5 tablet PC sports a View Anywhere outdoor display enclosed in a magnesium frame. The display has a protective covering which can be cleaned easily. This tablet has been IP54 rated and designed to withstand exposure to dust and moisture. Further, it is shock, drop, vibration and temperature resistant.

This tablet PC runs on Intel Centrino processor technology with Intel Core Solo and comes pre-loaded with Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition and Windows Vista Business.

The F5 tablet PC from Motion Computing also has a 2 mega pixel camera and an integrated fingerprint reader, simplifying password management while increasing data security.

Other salient features of the F5 Tablet Pc include:

  • Wi-Fi Bluetooth
  • Vehicular docking capabilities
  • Intuitive buttons and triggers
  • Integrated Barcode scanner (optional)
  • Integrated RFID reader
  • Natural handwriting interface
  • Speak Anywhere audio technology for easy access to voice notes and advanced communications
  • Motion Computing began shipping the F5 Tablet PC in February this year. Depending on the configuration, the price of the F5 tablet PC ranges from $2,699 to $4,000.
