Today as we invite the World Environment Day, Environmentalists with cheerful gazes proceed to spread the word of “Care and Love” towards Dear Mother Nature. World Environment Day is celebrated on June 5th Each year and this year the theme that has been thought of is “Kick The Habit: Towards A Low-Carbon Economy” which is keen on usage of products and machinery that promote low-carbon economies and lifestyles. This year, World Environment Day plans to spread the message to utilize energy efficient products, usage alternative energy sources, forest conservation, tree planting, and eco-friendly consumption to help support this ‘Natural’ cause.
Technology and Science play a very important role in stepping up to support this cause. As we enter the futuristic world, the ice on the poles of the Earth seem to be melting at the same quick speed. Technology seems to have stood up for the occasion and has already started inventing gadgets and machinery that ensures that it does not harm the nature in a harsh way. There has been a considerable amount of devices which run on natural sources of energy like solar power, wind and water. Here’s placing the spotlight on few of the latest gadgets which respect the nature and act as a pillar to support the World Environment Day.
Mobile Phones are the king of all gadgets which have been used by the majority of the masses worldwide. In terms of pollution, the mobile phone uses a considerable amount of electricity for the charging of the battery and scientists who are studying about the effects of radiation noticed the disappearance of bees due to the radiation from mobile phones which interferes with the bees’ navigation systems and also affects the traditional method of pollination of the crops by the bees.
To prevent any harmful affects Mobile phones started to walk the Eco-friendly path, Nokia was the first name to present its Nokia Remade Concept phone which uses recycled materials on its body which proved everyone on how a mobile phone can be made without using any new material. The phone uses new energy saving technologies which sits perfectly on the eco-friendly seat. Nokia did not want to stop there, they brought up another concept phone by the name of Eco-Sensor which is a wearable wrist watch or can be hung from the neckline which gathers valuable information on weather, health and environment, even this phone uses less energy and gets its charge from the solar power. The Nokia 3110 Evolve was presented later which uses 60% recycled material in the making of the phone and uses 94% less energy than Energy Star requirements.

As Nokia planned on making such eco-friendly phones, other mobile manufacturers stepped in to the Nature-Support arena with Samsung’s plans on introducing an eco-friendly phone which will be powered entirely by fuel cells thus replacing the conventional lithium polymer technology. Motorola also rose to the situation and presented its Moto RAZR L7 Handset which uses a hydrogen-powered battery and claims to be much more efficient as compared to that of the standard lithium ion batteries. Although Mobile phones leave few impacts on the pollution grounds, yet there is a helping hand given by them to let the masses to be accustomed to eco-friendly phones which will inculcate the sense of responsibility towards the environment.
In terms of Technology, the computers and electronic equipment is widely used and to combat the waste of energy Isolé IDP-3050 Power-Strip plays an important role by cutting off power-supply to the device when not in use, this is again a well-thought out device which can reduce the wastage of energy.
Gadget Makers were fascinated with the making of eco-friendly devices as they were well received by the common public who were concerned about the rising pace of ‘Global Warming’ effects. Even computers gave a helping hand to provide an eco-friendly environment, the Lenovo A61e, the smallest desktop is the most energy-efficient machine that quietly performs the tasks with less harm to the eco-system. The printers also follow the gang by introducing HP Deskjet D2545 which uses 83% recycled plastics on its plastic body.
