Sanyo Xacti HD1000 On Thursday, Sanyo announced the Xacti HD1000 camcorder. The electronics maker touts the HD1000 to be the world’s smallest and lightest full HD digital camcorder. It features the ability to write videos to an SDHC memory card and can record in 1920 x 1080 pixels.

One thing tedious and perhaps painful too about camcorders is holding it for long durations. However, Sanyo’s Xacti range of camcorders have an interesting pistol grip-style design along with new ergonomic elements developed in association with Japan’s Chiba University, that can let you shoot for hours together without much pain in the hands or wrist. And needless to say, the Xacti HD1000 camcorder also includes this.

The other significant features of the Sanyo Xacti HD1000 camcorder are:

  • 10x optical zoom lens
  • 2.7-inch widescreen LCD display
  • HDMI output
  • Image stabilization
  • “Face chaser” function for still images
  • Connects to a Mac or PC using USB
  • Weight: 9.5 ounces
  • Total volume: 16.6 cubic inches
  • The Xacti HD1000 records MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 video. It has the ability to record 85 minutes of 1920 x 1080 video onto an 8GB SDHC memory card. If users decide on reducing the quality to 640 x 480, one can get up to 5 hours, 14 minutes on an 8GB card. In addition, it can also record 4-megapixel digital still images.

The Sanyo Xacti HD1000 camcorder will hit store shelves this September, for $799.99.
