Dell Convertible Tablet PC After a whole lot of rumors, personal computer maker Dell has finally announced in a blog post that they are planning to launch their first convertible tablet PC sometime later in 2007.

The world’s second largest computer maker Dell even posted a video on their blog of a prototype product they have developed.

The blog post had Jeff Clarke, senior vice president of Dell’s business product group saying, “I’m here to confirm that we are entering the tablet PC market, and we will enter the market later this year.”

Dell plans to target this convertible tablet PC at the education, health care and corporate markets.

However, the company did not reveal any technical specifications of the product, but they did reveal that it would be “one of the lightest-weight” tablet PCs in the market.

From the video, Dell’s upcoming surprise for the masses looks really slim. It also seems that this tablet PC will have a screen which measures around 12-inches. It also looks like it could have a touchscreen and pen input (digitizer) as well as a biometric reader.

Clarke added, “The technology and customer and usage models have evolved to the point where it makes it right for Dell to enter the marketplace. We’re excited, and everybody, we’re coming.”

Stay tuned for Dell is sure to release the specifications of this “light-weight” convertible tablet PC in no time.
