Nikon has just unveiled three new digital cameras as part of its Coolpix L-series, just in time for the Spring 2007 Photo Marketing Association tradeshow. It is interesting to know that the ‘L’ in Nikon’s latest L-series stands for “Life”. The three cameras that form the Nikon L-series are the L10, L11, and L12.
The Nikon Coolpix L10 is a five mega pixel digital camera; the Coolpix L11, a six mega pixel digital camera, and the Coolpix L12 a seven mega pixel digital camera. All the three Nikon Coolpix digital cameras feature Nikkor-branded 3x optical zoom lenses.
All the three Nikon Coolpix digital cameras feature a stylish, compact, yet understated design. The Nikon Coolpix L10 digital camera has a 2.0” display with a resolution of 153,000 pixels. The Coolpix L11 digital camera has a larger but lower-resolution display that measures 2.4” with a 115,000 pixel display. The Nikon Coolpix L12 digital camera is worth its price, in the sense that it has a larger 2.5” display with the same resolution as the Coolpix L11.
In the Nikon L-series line of digital cameras, the Coolpix L12 seems to be the one that has brilliant features, for this camera features Nikon’s lens-shift VR (Vibration Reduction) technology. This feature is not found in the Nikon Coolpix L10 and L11 digital cameras. Secondly, the Coolpix L12 offers a wider sensitivity range, even though this camera has the highest resolution imager out of the three cameras.
The L12 digital camera also has an ISO sensitivity range of 50-1600. On the other hand, the Coolpix L10 and the L11 digital cameras offer a much narrower ISO 64-800 range.
Coming to the memory capacities of the Nikon L-series digital cameras, it can be said that once again the L12 digital camera leads the group with a 21MB built-in storage. The Coolpix L10 and the L11 digital cameras both feature 7MB of storage capacity.
For extra storage, the Nikon L-series L10, L11 and L12 digital cameras feature Secure Digital/Multimedia Card slots. Besides, the three L-series cameras have USB and NTSC/PAL video connectivity. The L10, L11 and L12 digital cameras all draw power from two standard AA batteries, with alkaline disposables which come bundled with the cameras.
The Nikon Coolpix L10, Coolpix L11 and Coolpix L12 digital cameras will begin shipping from March 2007 onwards for a price of $120, $150 and $200 respectively.
