Turbolinux ‘wizpy’ Bootable Linux device launched in India

Turbolinux, a Japan-based Linux software company has launched its newest ‘wizpy’ device in India. Wizpy is a palm-sized bootable Linux OS device that also includes a feature-rich multimedia player.
Using this device, users will be able to boot almost any computer in the world that uses the Turbolinux operating system with great flexibility.
The ‘wizpy’ device provides users with a bootable version of Turbolinux’s OS which runs straight from the device. Thus, when this device is attached to a computer’s USB port, users will be able to boot-up the Linux system that resides in the ‘wizpy’s’ memory, allowing them to set up their own PC environment.
Because of this, users are also able to access their documents, emails and the Web as well, while keeping their host computer and well as their own data confidential.
The ‘wizpy’ device’s multimedia player can be accessed using the 1.7-inch OLED color screen and keypad that is located on the front of the device.
Also, you will be able to play music in Ogg, MP3 and Windows Media Audio formats, as well as videos in xviD, MPEG4, and view images in JPEG formats. Besides, the ‘wizpy’ device is able to record sound to MP3 files and display text files. The Turbolinux device also has a built-in FM radio.
According to Deepak Wassan, President, Turbolinux, who spoke at the launch, “Through wizpy we are introducing a new concept of ‘PC 2.0′. With this product we have unbundled OS from the hardware. Now one can carry along the OS environment, applications, mails and data, and these are accessible at all times at any place with access to a PC. Important data such as passwords and credit card information now need not be left on the PC but can be stored on wizpy itself, thus preventing your personal information from being compromised.”
Product features of the Turbolinux ‘wizpy’ device:
The Turbolinux ‘wizly’ device will be sold for a price of Rs.11,995 and will be available through select retail outlets in India as the company has partnered with eSys Technologies and online portal cafegadgets.in for the distribution of the ‘wizpy’ device in India.
