New 2nd Generation Zunes enhanced further by Microsoft
Exactly one year ago, Microsoft had launched its Zune media player which was touted to be iPod’s one and only rival. However, the so-so reviews proved this otherwise. Then, in October 2007, the 2nd generation of Zune players came out which boast Wi-Fi sync, touch sensitive button and storage capacities. Now Microsoft has announced some updates regarding the new Zunes.
The new 2nd generation of Zune players include the 80GB hard-drive Zune and the 4GB and 8GB flash Zune players. However, when they were introduced last month, Microsoft said that the the Wi-Fi sync feature would be available only in November 2007.
As promised, the Wi-Fi sync feature is now accessible. It allows users tto set their Zune players to automatically sync with music and video libraries via a home network, when docked or charging with an AC adaptor.
The Zune marketplace has also been restocked with over 3 million music tracks, podcasts, videos and DRM-free MP3s.
To encourage interest in its Zune media player, Microsoft has also announced a new initiative that allows Zune users to customize their players. Users can get engraved designed done by contemporary artists on the back of the Zune players for absolutely no cost at all!
The company will also offer 20 smaller graphic designs inspired by classic tattoo art, leaving room for three lines of text chosen by the customer. Those who choose no design can have up to five lines of text engraved.
Microsoft said in a statement that the engraving service is free for a limited time, and is only available through its Zune site.
