VIA NanoBook Ultra Mobile Device unveiled

Via Technology, the third player in the PC microprocessor market has just unveiled their NanoBook ultra-mobile personal computer. This UMD (Ultra Mobile Device) packs in the performance, connectivity and functionality of a notebook PC into a sleek and lightweight ultra portable clamshell form factor.
The VIA NanoBook is powered by the ultra low voltage 1.2GHz VIA C7-M processor and the VIA VX700 chipset featuring the VIA UniChrome Pro II IGP integrated graphics core. This UMD has support for both Microsoft Windows XP and Windows Vista Basic operating systems.
The VIA NanoBook UMD weighs less than 850g and measures just 230mm x 171mm x 29.4mm. It sports a 7-inch WVGA screen with a touch panel that supports 840 x 480 resolution. This UMD comes with a full keyboard.
The VIA NanoBook comes with a 1GB DDR2 SDRAM, a 30/60GB HDD, and a 4-in-1 card reader as well as 802.11g WiFi and Bluetooth support. It also comes with two USB2.0 ports, plus an Ethernet, a DVI port and Mic-in/Speaker-Out ports.
Additonally, to provide users with additional flexibility when they may be on-the-go, the VIA NanoBook also features a USB slot next to the screen that will enable the snap-in integration of a variety of World Time Clock/Calendar, GPS, VoIP and broadband wireless modules.

The VIA NanoBook UMD will be available in the second half of 2007. No word on the actual price as yet, but it will most probably carry a price tag of nothing less than $600.
