iPhone and Time Magazine logo If you think that Apple’s iPhone has always been in the highlight only for the not-so-right reasons, then think again!

The much coveted “Invention of the year”, 2007 recognition by Time Magazine has this year been credited to the iPhone device. The revolutionary new gizmo, which is essentially an iPod and mobile phone packed into one, has lately gone through quite a rough weather after its price cut and various other such issues. But the latest recognition surely is a breath of fresh and (hopeful) air for the iPhone.

Bundling an innovative touchscreen, Mac OS X along with a chic design, the iPhone was launched on June 29, and since then has sold a staggering 1.4 million pieces. In fact, just within 74 days of its release, it managed to sell an unbelievable 1 million pieces. And now the target has been set to 10 Million by 2008-end.

The chief reasons cited by Time Magazine for naming the Apple iPhone as the “Invention of the Year” are:

Firstly the iPhone adds to the entire persona of the owner, thanks to the device’s great looks.

Secondly, the touchscreen interface, called the fingerworks, makes it possible for users to flick through album covers, clicking links, increasing and decreasing photographs with their fingers.

Also, Apple developed iPhone to deliver a phone along with a platform for users to access OS X its full-featured desktop operating system, and other specification that are packed into the device.

The other reason stated was that the iPhone is not only a handheld walk-around computer but also gives access Google maps and other application.

And finally, the price of the Apple iPhone is expected to reduce further and the sales will automatically go up.

So all you people who actually cribbed about buying the iPhone at a steep price before the price cut, have a little reason to smile, as you can proudly claim to be the very first few owners of this amazing piece of gadget called the “iPhone”.
