Apple iPhone debuts with Terrible First Impression and numerous Customer Complaints

iPhone Activcation Troubles

From the looks of it, it sure seems that the launch of Apple’s much-awaited iPhone went smoothly and successfully. Although it is too soon for the company to release any figures as yet, it is known that majority of the stores selling the most talked about product of the year are already out of stock.

But, now after waiting in never ending lines to get their hands on the iPhone, many users are experiencing failure during the activation process. As a result, many iPhone users have had to stop using the new phone that they have waited for what must have seemed like ages.

For instance, those AT&T customers who were transferring their cell phone numbers were affected. Even people porting their numbers from competitors like Verizon and T-Mobile were affected.

And, in several cases, users found that their old number had been deactivated, leaving them without a cell phone as they awaited for their prized iPhone to be activated.

Because, if you don’t activate the iPhone, you will not be able to use any of the iPhone’s functions and a message that says “Activate iPhone…Connect to iTunes” continues to be displayed on the screen.

Complaints concerning activation have been pouring in from eager beavers who have been waiting patiently all these months for the iPhone’s launch.

Now, on Sunday, two days after the launch, AT&T, the iPhone’s exclusive carrier, responded by saying that the situation has improved after they received numerous complaints.

Michael Coe, a spokesman for AT&T said, “We are working on any issues on an individual basis with customers who were impacted.”

According to AT&T, the problems related to overloaded servers as a large number of customers tried to activate their iPhones over the weekend.

Coe added that AT&T made technical adjustments to its activation system so that new users would not face the same delays again.

And, it doesn’t end there! Customers with corporate accounts might also experience delays since AT&T requires authorization from the telecommunications manager at their respective companies to switch them to an individual account.

Another AT&T spokesman Mark Siegel blamed the issues on the technology and process based. He said: “We’re just looking at everything to get customers activated in a timely fashion.”

However, we must hand it over to Apple who has dealt with the issue in a timely manner. You can expect such lamenting and rants to take place, for it’s the ‘most talked about product’ in concern here, and people after spending $499/599 want to see what all the fuss is all about.
