A dealer’s post on the AVS Forum states that due to production delays the first shipment of the Toshiba HD-AX2 HD DVD player will not be available before January 3rd of 2007. And guess what, this date is only for consumers in Japan. The rest of the world will catch a glimpse and can feel a touch of HD-XA2 much later in the coming year.

DTV Tivo Dealer on AVS Forum also noted that while 1080p/24 playback is present only in a couple of Blu-ray players - Toshiba HD-AX2 HD DVD player won’t release with this feature, he is “100% sure” a future firmware upgrade within a few months will add it as an option.
