Google adds ‘Quick Search Box’ to Google Desktop 3.0
On Wednesday, Google unveiled the final version of Google Desktop 3.0, along with a new feature the company dubs the Quick Search Box. In order to avail of web and local searches, one has to press the control key twice, and there pops up a search box in the middle of the desktop. Clicking control wice makes the box disappear.
The other add-ons to Google Desktop 3 include searches across multiple computers, the ability to send Sidebar items to friends, deeper customisation of Sidebar features, and password-protected search. The software includes a Google-like search function and Sidebar, a movable palette of various mini-applications.
