The day is finally here. Microsoft’s much awaited first generation Zune music player is being launched today at a price $249. Apparently, the Zune music player was available before its official launch in certain stores in America.

Microsoft’s Zune, the 30GB, WiFi-enabled music player will be available today onwards in over 30,000 retail locations. Now that the holiday season is approaching, Microsoft’s Zune is bound to be a hot item on most Christmas wish-lists.

Even as the Zune Music Player hits the store shelves today, the Redmond-based company is already working on updates. Microsoft CEO, Steve Ballmer confirmed that the company will be adding wireless video sharing to the Zune player. However, no timeframe was stated.

Currently, the Zune Player enables wireless music sharing on a 3×3 basis (three plays for three days with the option to purchase the tracks).

Another rumor regarding the Zune Zune Music Player that was doing the rounds has now been confirmed. Steve Ballmer said that the Zune Music Player will soon be combined with integrated phone capabilities at some point in the future as well.

Stay tuned for more on Microsoft’s Zune music player.
