V-Tel Mobile Service event

Millions of Indians are hopping on a plane and traveling abroad. Last year, some eleven million Indians went out of the country and most of them were business travelers. One of the important requirements while traveling abroad these days is a mobile phone. However, business travelers from India have been harried a lot as they had to cope up with multiple sim cards and huge bills.

But all that is about to change as Dhanus Technologies has announced the launch of the V-Tel Mobile services in India at a press event in Mumbai. With “Go global, pay local” being their mantra, Dhanus aims to offer a respite to Indian travelers who spend a lot of money in making and/or receiving calls.

Dhanus Technologies claim that the V-Tel Mobile service will enable international travelers to save their call charges by 95 percent! The service can be used across 229 counties with more than 250 mobile phone service providers. One thing that stands out is that V-Tel mobile offers free incoming calls in more than 50 countries and charges discounted rates for the home country. Also, if a user makes call within the respective country during travel, the charges are less.

AD Sudhindhra is the executive chairman of Dhanus Technologies. He said, “The launch of V-Tel Mobile is a major milestone for Dhanus Technologies and we are extremely excited to take telecom services in India to the next level. There has been a huge surge in business & leisure travelers in the country and huge monies are spent on telephone bills by travelers trying to keep in touch with family, friends and business associates, across geographies. With the Indian Telecommunications market booming and with about 10 million Indians traveling abroad every year, it is estimated that one in every four of the next billion subscribers will be an India; and this provides immense potential to offer V-Tel mobile services to Indians who travel abroad frequently.”

It was revealed at the press event that the activation charges for the V-Tel Mobile service is Rs. 999 (plus taxes). The recharge/top-ups will be in US Dollars, Euros or Pounds. It depends upon where the top-up has been requested from. However, it should be noted that the service is only for GSM users. Also, it cannot be used in India!
