It’s that time of the week when TechShout comes out with the most memorable news of the week so that all you readers remain updated on the biggest announcements, latest technologies, funny moments and shocking stories of the week. This week offers a mixed bag of news ranging from some really high-tech stories which will leave you wanting more to a few shocking stories.

For a few weeks now Toshiba may have been in a state of limbo regarding its HD-DVD format, considering the fact that most Hollywood companies took Sony’s side. The last one standing in the HD DVD brigade was poor ol’ Microsoft, who within no time realized that the hour had come to kill off the HD DVD player for its Xbox 360 console. Perhaps we can expect the all-time scheming Microsoft to come out with a Blu-ray player for Xbox 360s now. Paramount has also zeroed in on Sony’s Blu-ray format, dumping Toshiba out and out.

Man-made robots may soon be a part of your country’s army! These mechanical fellows seem to be penetrating each and every sphere of human life including the medical, technology, science and space arenas. Now, several nations have taken the first step towards an international robot arms race. Click here for the story. But, from the sound of it, things might just get worse in the world and the global war could be aided by adapting such technologies.

While on the subject of robots; Here come the transformer phones! Yes, these rather cute looking phones from Toshiba are well very normal phones, except that they can be transformed into robots! Perfect for mecha lovers, the 815T PB will keep you occupied all day. What’s more; Japan actually has a TV series which stars these very robotic phones.

Google believes that you got to give some to get some. Now, the Internet giant who has been come to known not only for its technological prowess but also but its philanthropic side, is all set to help the homeless in San Francisco. Google will be giving away free phone numbers of voicemail accounts to assist the homeless in putting their life back together and gathering their self-esteem.

PlayStation fanboys will be upset to know that one of the most famous faces from Sony will be vacating the company’s premises. Phil Harrison who joined Sony way back in 1992 and served till date has already seen the successful launches of all of Sony’s consoles. Rumored to be joining Atari, we do wish Mr. Harrison all the very best for his future endeavors.

A laptop that was purchased via e-bay was found with CD under the keyboard that contained confidential information of the UK government’s Home Office that handles law/security matters. Apparently, the Home Office lost this CD. The big question that looms is how on earth did it get into the laptop?

Nokia and Cambridge researchers have come out with the futuristic Morph concept phone which reminds me a lot of a wearable and something that could become common-place in the not so distant future. This phone works on the principle of nanotechnology and thus can be shaped and stretched as per the need of the user. So artistic is this handset that it is being showcased at the MoMA in New York.

Here’s another noteworthy bit of news for this week. A Chinese mobile manufacturer has come out with the C7000A handset which offers most features that one sees in phones today. But, the uniqueness of this phone lies in an integrated cardiograph function which will surely benefit heart patients who constantly need to record their vital signs.

Soon, you’ll be able to watch 3D movies right in the comfort of your living room for consumer electronics brand Samsung has unveiled a 50-inch 3D HDTV which happens to be the world’s first to offer a 1,000,000: 1 contrast ratio. The 3D-ready PAVV Cannes 450 Plasma TV comes complete with 3D goggles and software. Just imagine the gaming experience that could be possible on this HDTV!
