Return of Hanuman On 28th December 2008, cinema theatres across India saw the coming in of 2D animated feature film ‘Return of Hanuman’. Developed by Toonz Animation India, the new movie is the second episode of India’s first 2D animated movie ‘Hanuman’. The latest 90-minute film is a co production between Toonz Animation and Percept Picture Company (PPC).

Return of Hanuman’s script has been written and directed by well known Indian director Anurag Kashyap. Set in quite a modern day setting, the story is about the rebirth of Hanuman as young ‘Maruti’ who has the responsibility of handling the fate of humankind.

P. Jayakumar, CEO Toonz Animation stated, “We felt that Indian mythology has lots of values to deliver in today’s world and we need to teach our younger generation the importance of our traditions.”

The movie has hit around 370 cinema halls across the country. Currently the film is available in Hindi and there are possibilities that it could be also dubbed in various other Indian vernacular languages.

Trailers and ads of the movie were seen on various mediums way ahead of its release in the Indian theatres. Infact, quite a few strategic partnerships have also been formed for the movie, which includes a key one with Jump Games, where a mobile game on the lines of the movie has been introduced.

What’s more, there is also a probability that Toonz and PPC could team-up once again to produce Hanuman 3, which could be a 3D feature film.
