Sanyo Xacti CA8 Camera

Sanyo has launched the Xacti digital camcorder named DMX-CA8. A waterproof body is the most important feature of the Xacti CA8.

The Xacti CA8 features a 2.5 inch TFT color LCD display, 5x optical zoom lens, digital image stabilizer and an in-built memory of 44MB with up to 32GB SDHC Card memory card slot.

The TV-HR mode is the highest of the five video shooting modes that delivers a VGA image resolution of 640×480 pixels and a bit rate of 6Mbps. While the advanced face detection function is capable of recognizing four people in a shot and focuses on their faces.

The CMOS (complementary metal-oxide semiconductor) sensor works faster than CCD (charge couple device) image sensor. As a result users will be able to capture videos at 60fps. The camera further supports MPEG4 AVC/H.264 compression for video files.

The 8-megapixel camera is also capable of capturing still images at 4,000 x 3,000 pixels resolution.

The Xacti CA8 measures 70×111x40 mm and weighs 239g. Moreover, the camera is capable of delivering 205 still image shots or 75 minutes of continuous video shooting in a single battery charge.

The Xacti CA8 camera is available for ¥50,000 in the Japanese market.

    Please note that the original source information you obtained this from was slightly off, and the actual press release mentions that it can chase up to 6 faces in movie mode and up to 12 in still image mode.
