Sony High-definition (HD) Digital Cameras and HandCams launched in India

New Sony Cyber-Shot Camera

Sony has just launched its new range of High Definition (HD) Cyber-shot and Handycam cameras in the Indian market. According to Sony India, all the new models embody the best of this rapidly advancing technology with revolutionary designs to create seven of the most powerful and best looking products in each form factor.

The newly launched Cyber-shot cameras launched by Sony India- the “DSC-W200”, “DSC-T100”, and the “DSC-H9”, feature HD component output. These Sony cameras offer simple and direct connection to an HDTV set. This makes it extremely easy to integrate full 1080 HD photo viewing into home theatre systems.

These new digital still Cyber-shot cameras are packed with Double Anti Blur solution and Bionz high-speed processing engine. This makes up for users who have shaky hands, and also helps to minimize blur to preserving images in bright highlights and more detail even in difficult lighting conditions.

Also all the newly launched Sony Cybershot cameras sport Carl Zeiss 3x optical zoom lenses and traditional eye-level viewfinders wrapped in sleek metal bodies.

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W200 camera features a 2.5-inch LCD screen that combines a 12.1 mega pixel resolution with high sensitivity for shooting without flash even in low light.

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T100 is an 8.1 mega pixel camera that comes with a Carl Zeiss 5x optical zoom and sports a 3-inch LCD screen.

The above two mentioned Sony Cybershot camera models are packed with advanced features such as Super SteadyShot optical image stabilization to minimize blur, face detection, D-range optimization, and in-camera retouching and red-eye reduction. The Sony DSC-W200 and the DSC-T100 cameras cost Rs.24,990 each.

The last camera unveiled by Sony India is an 8.1 mega pixel Cyber-shot camera- the DSC-H9, which debuts the company’s advanced sports shooting mode. This digital camera combines high shutter speed shooting and intelligent continuous auto focusing with Carl Zeiss 15x optical zoom lenses.

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H9 camera sports a 3-inch LCD screen, flip-up LCD screen and is powered by the Bionz processing engine. This camera is priced at Rs.29,990.

Sony HD HandyCams

Sony also unveiled four HD camcorders- the “HDR-CX7K” (Memory Stick format), the “HDR-HC5” (DV tape format), the “HDR-UX5” (DVD format), and the “HDR-SR5” (Hard Disk). All of these camcorders feature Sony’s ClearVid CMOS sensor, enhanced imaging processor that allow capturing of both videos and still images, and extensive 5.1 Dolby Digital surround sound capabilities.

The Sony HDR-CX7K HandyCam happens to be the first Memory Stick capable HandCam that records HD videos and captures up to 6.1 mega pixels of still images. It also happens to be the lightest and smallest HD AVCHD (Advanced Video Codec High Definition) camcorder available in the market today. This HandyCam features a 3.2 mega pixel ClearVideo CMOS Sensor, 10x optical zoom and 20x digital zoom. It sports a 2.7-inch Clear Photo LCD Plus display, HDMI output and a built-in 5.1 channel microphone.

The Sony HDR-UX5 HandyCam has a 2.5-inch display and features x.v Color technology and a 2 mega pixel ClearVid CMOS sensor that is capable of producing 4 mega pixel digital till photos. This camcorder has 10x optical zoom and 80x digital zoom for video recording. It has a 5.1 channel audio and 8cm DVD supporting DVD-R/DVD+R DL/DVD-RW/DVD+RW. This Sony HandyCam is priced at Rs.59,990.

The next Sony HandyCam introduced by Sony in India is the HDR-SR5 AVCHD camcorder that has a 40GB hard drive that is able to store over 15 hours of footage (LP modes). It can support Super SteadyShot optical image stabilization, and is equipped with a 2.7-inch Clear photo LCD Plus. The HDR-SR5 HandyCam has a 2 mgea pixel sensor for full HD 1080 video.

The last camcorder launched in India is the HDR-HC5 HandyCam that is able to capture HD and standard definition video to a miniDV cassette. It is packs in 10x optical zoom, 80x digital zoom and Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T Lens. This camcorder can produce 4 mega pixel still photos and 2.3 mega pixel photos in dual record mode. The HDR-HC5 HandyCam is priced at Rs.69,990.

The Sony HDR-SR5 HandyCam and the HDR-CX7K HandyCam are yet to officially arrive in the Indian market. All the other digital cameras and HandyCams are available as of now at Sony outlets throughout the country.
