Nyko Media Hub to Extend Connectivity of PS3

Nyko Media Hub Nyko has announced to release Media Hub for the PlayStation 3. The latest PS3 peripheral can be used to extend USB capabilities of the console. Nyko’s Media Hub will add three additional USB ports and a media card reader slot supporting SD cards and Memory Sticks. PS3 is already equipped with four USB ports and a memory card slot.

By employing the Media Hub, gamers can attach several gadgets such as flash drives, PSP, MP3 players or additional controllers. The Hub is colored into the same as the PS3, so it does not look odd when connected to the console. Also it does not require any additional tools or internal modifications or even external power. The Hub draws power from the PS3 itself.

Sony Removes Firmware 2.40 Update

Sony Firmware 2.40 Sony had released PlayStation 3 firmware 2.40 update on Monday. The latest firmware offered users trophy achievement support as well as XMB (XrossMediaBar) in-game access.

However, the latest news is Sony has pulled the newly released update from its server. While removing the update Sony released a statement which said, “We are aware of a limited number of consumers experiencing an issue with installing firmware 2.40 on PS3, While our consumer services department has seen a low volume of calls on this topic, we are committed to enabling the community and XMB access features delivered in the 2.40 update.”

“In order to further assess the issue, we have temporarily taken the firmware offline for further testing. We are working diligently to isolate the problem for those few consumers and to identify a solution before we put the firmware back up,” SCEA statement read.

    Sharp CD-SW340H and CD-MPX880H Hi-fi Systems introduced in UK

    Sharp Electronic has launched two new mini hi-fi models namely CD-SW340H and CD-MPX880H. Both the models are equipped with a five CD changer.

    The Sharp CD-SW340H features a blue flashing light that follows the beat of the bass. While the Sharp CD-MPX880H sports a lower output of 280 Watt RMS.

    Furthermore the models incorporate audio in terminal for MP3/MP4 player connection. Also AM/FM with RDS and a clock with alarm/sleep functions are included in the Sharp hi-fi models.

    Both Sharp Hi-fi systems will be available in the UK market from July 2008. The CD-SW340H system will carry the price tag of £180 while the CD-MPX880H system can be purchased for £140.

    Sony to Launch New PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Network in India This Year

    Sony PlayStation 2 The news has been circulating that Sony Computer Entertainment will launch fourth version of PlayStation 2 in India by Diwali. Economic Times reports that the upcoming edition of the console will hit simultaneously in the European and Indian market.

    According to Economic Times, the new version will be available in the Indian market for the price of Rs 6,990. Further more, it is expected to be slimmer and sleeker than its current edition. Additionally, the external AC adapters would be skipped.

    “The playstation network is ready for India. It is only the integration of the payment gateway that needs to be done.” Atindriya Bose, SCE Country Manager, India told Economic Times.
